A very brief word from me – Susan, the owner of The Poplars.
Before I bought The Poplars in 2014, I spent almost a year viewing different premises around the country. I knew what I wanted and how much I was willing to take on, I just had to get out there and find it.
The Poplars was actually one of the first places I viewed and I brought my mother with me for company as it was only going to be a day trip. After our viewing, she was convinced that it was the place for me but I thought it was just too good to be true. After all who ever finds the perfect place on the very first viewing…..
So, I set off on various trips and viewings around the country just to make sure there was nothing I liked or wanted more out there. There wasn’t, but it was good to make sure and see what else was out there. And yes, I was given the obligatory ‘I told you so’ when I made my final decision. The Poplars was the place for me and the village of Moulton ticked all my criteria.
The age of The Poplars did not put me off. It is a beautiful old building made up of three original cottages. It is indeed quirky and tight on space and the top floor has sloping ceilings and crooked landings and I think that is what adds to the charm. It is unique and has a lovely warm atmosphere. I have no intention in over modernising it and want to embrace it’s age and character.
Something I did think it needed was a new logo and brand and thanks to the brilliant work from Heather and her team, I think we got it just right. I love our new logo as it embraces the stained glass that greets people when they arrive.
A huge ‘Thank You’ to Heather Selbie from Mazzle for also redesigning the website and offering help and guidance along the way with so many things. It has taken me a while but the results are worth it.
